Skills Sharing Nights Series-January

Trip Planning Discussion

What resources to use? What information to gather? How to interpret the avalanche bulletin? How to select terrain options? How to identify possible route options? What topics to discuss with your group before heading out?

We can gather so much information to plan a safer day in the backcountry. But sometimes, it can be overwhelming and, thus, tempting to start relying on other group members to plan the day for us.

Let’s take charge of our safety in the backcountry!

This event is an opportunity for our community of adventurous women to learn from one another by sharing tips and tricks and refining our trip-planning skills. On the menu: discussion and trip planning group exercise.

Bring your resources (guidebooks, laptop, apps and maps), stories and questions!

Disclaimer: This is not a course. This event is facilitated by passionate volunteers who are backcountry recreationists. The goal is to offer a space for participants to share their experiences, ask questions without fear of judgment and learn from each other.

If you are looking for a course on this subject, we recommend taking a certified AST2 course with industry professionals.
